Bread Experiment
Abstract: We had 8 pieces of bread and experimented with them in all different ways to see which ones go stale. The reason bread goes stale is because the water molecules escape the bread.
Procedure: The supplies we needed for this experiment were: water, fridge, freezer, Ziploc bag, vacuum bag, plastic container, and bread.
The first slice of bread we left it alone so that means it.
The second slice of bread we put it in a fridge.
We put the third slice of bread in a Ziploc bag.
We put the fourth slice of bread in a Ziploc bag in the freezer.
We put the fifth slice of bread in a freezer.
We put the sixth slice of bread in a bag that you suck up all the air from it with a vacuum.
We put the seventh slice of bread in a plastic container.
The eighth slice of bread we sprayed it with water.
All of these pieces of bread we left it experimenting at night.

Specimen 1 became hard and stale.
Specimen 2 became hard but not too stale.
Specimen 3 was fresh and soft.
Specimen 4 was extremely soft and breaks easily.
Specimen 5 was moist, big, and not stale.
Specimen 6 was wet and very thin.
Specimen 7 is a little hard and is moist.
Specimen 8 was a little hard and is a little bigger than the control.
Conclusion: My hypothesis is: the reason bread becomes stale is the water molecules escape the bread. That is why when I have felt the breads that were sealed in some kind of case it felt moist so water molecules were in those breads and the breads that were in a big area and not sealed were hard so that means that the water molecules escaped the bread. So that means that if the water molecules stay in the bread then that makes the bread moist, soft, and tasty but if the water molecules escape the bread then the bread becomes stale which is dry, hard, and disgusting.
Why is Heroin so addictive?
When heroin enters the bloodstream, the addictive drug goes to the brain and takes over the brain system. This drug is so addictive because the “good sensation” it gives to the body makes a person want to have this feeling multiple times, which leads to addiction. The effect of heroin is a warm flushing of the skin and a rush, and then the user’s mental functions become “cloudy” and they become drowsy. Once someone is addicted to heroin long term effects include: infections of the heart lining and valves, liver disease, kidney disease, and pulmonary complications. If a person immediately quits using heroin, symptoms that they may have are: seizures, painful cramps, coma, and death. Heroin is so powerful that it can effect you just in minutes after it is taken. Heroin is so addictive that once a dependence has grown on the drug people take larger doses of heroin which seems normal to them. Heroin is one of the most addictive drugs. People say they become addicted after there first time taking heroin. Crime and violence always becomes a part of a heroin user’s life.
Why is heroin so addictive?
● A. Heroin is addictive because it helps people stay awake and work effectively.
● B. Heroin is addictive because of the “good sensation” of the drug that makes people continuously want to take it.
● C. Heroin is addictive because the drug is tasteful.
● D. Heroin is addictive because the drug increases the amount of brain cells in the body, causing the user to become smarter.
Question: Will you become addicted to heroin if you take a small amount?
Answers:
True, a small amount of heroin is enough to make you addicted to this drug. An individual can become addicted after just one use.
BOOK REPORT
The BFG by Roald Dahl
208 pages
The BFG book by Roald Dahl is about a girl named Sophie who is captured by a friendly and kind giant. BFG stands for the Big Friendly Giant. He takes her away to a cave where he tells her many secrets. The BFG shares his secret about giving people dreams and also tells her that other giants are eating children in
Sophie joins the BFG in this adventure. One important event in the story is the dream BFG gives the Queen of England one night. In the dream some giants eat people. The Queen discovers that the death of these people was real when reading the newspapers the following day. Sophie appears on her window sill the after her dream. They all meet, including the BFG and have breakfast together. The Queen, the BFG and Sophie work together to capture the giants with soldiers. They fought against the giants with BFG tricking them and successfully capturing them and placing them in a giant pit. The BFG goes on to become educated and to work as a writer.
The setting changes back and forth throughout the story. The three places the story takes place are:
The character Sophie felt these emotions throughout the story: frightened, confused, excited, and horrified. Sophie was frightened whenever she was being held by the BFG or when he put her in his pocket. Sophie was horrified whenever she saw the other giants. She was confused whenever she did not know what to do or whenever the BFG said something strange such as a mumble of unrecognizable words. Sophie felt excited when she was giving the dream to the Queen of England because she knew the outcome would help in the capture of the giants. Sophie’s emotions have changed throughout the story because she found everything to be new and amazing in different ways. Some examples of these emotions were when she learned from the BFG that giants eat people and secondly, Sophie was amused to hear when the BFG told her about him catching dreams and giving them to people.
I would recommend this book because the BFG gives the reader a hope that eventually justice will be made and that the child eating giants will have to learn their lesson. The message of send to the Queen of England through a dream works to help them have a powerful person organize an army to capture the giants. The idea of giving other people a thought by sending them a dream was amusing. The BFG at the end goes to obtain an education which is also sending an important message that learning can help people and he will learn to write and speak well.
I thought the most exciting part of the book was when Sophie was in the Queen of England’s bedroom. I thought this was the most exciting part of the book because Sophie was taking a risk by sitting in the Queen’s bedroom on her window sill. When the Queen awoke she could have reacted differently in seeing her there, a stranger in her room, after a bad dream about giants eating people. Instead the outcome was good. The other reason was that when Sophie introduced BFG to her after seeing her could also have been a moment of conflict but instead the Queen celebrated having breakfast happily, with both of them. Another reason I liked this part of the story was because it was the most mysterious event of the story, not knowing what the Queen’s personality would be like.
